Envirocon utilises the Reidbar system for our vertical reinforcing for Interbloc. Amendment 3 relates to the use of components that will be encased in concrete.
NZS3101.1&2:2006 Amendment 3 Compliance Note: NZS 31010:2006 Concrete Structures Standard - Part 1: The Design of Concrete Structures governs the design of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures and came into affect in 2018.
Among other things, the amendment banned the use of cast iron components in steel reinforcing systems such as the Reidbar. However this restriction is specific to components cast into precast elements.
Reidbar, when used as a vertical reinforcing solution for Interbloc, is never cast into the block and as a result the amendment does not apply.
